As you prepare for next week, the Sunday School Theme

for the week beginning February 26, 2012 is:

“Center of My Life”

This week’s lesson is about how who Christ is and what He has done for us should shape our character, guide our homes, and direct our interactions with those who do not believe.

Text Box:
The Greek term rendered put off in verse 8 presents the image of taking off old, soiled clothing and laying the items aside. The verb is in the imperative—it is a command—indicating self-chosen, decisive action. When believers place their faith in Christ, they chose to divest themselves of their old lifestyles characterized by selfish practices. The picture behind put on also conveys decisive action and is an explicit command in verse 12. It pictures choosing to don fresh, clean clothes. Ideally and potentially—and from God’s perspective—at conversion believers shed the old life and put on new life in Christ. They continually are to carry out the process of putting away carnal actions and attitudes and putting on Christian qualities or virtues.

Scripture:  Colossians 3:1-4:6

Colossians 3:18-21

18Wives, submit yourselves unto your husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

19Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

20Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well-pleasing unto the Lord.

21Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
